How To Propose

FIRST COMES LOVE... THEN COME JULEE'S JEWELRY

HOW TO PROPOSE

This is a moment that both of you will remember for lifetime.  Julee's Jewelry would like to help make this moment as memorable as possible.

TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE. Before you invest in an expensive ring hoping she'll say yes, have some discussion about your futures or about marriage and expectations. It's best to even discuss Money, Sex(intimacy) and Children. This way you'll know that she has similar a vision.

WHAT ARE HER JEWELRY PREFERENCES.  Find out the type of jewelry she likes (even dislikes).  Have her make a wish list, point pieces out when shopping or looking in catalogs, ask her mom, sister or best friend.  (See Buying Tips For Men)

THE RING.  Buy a ring that is within your budget.  For a complete surprise to everyone, you can purchase a diamond set in a solitaire mounting, which can easily have a wedding band added or can be remounted into a setting that she may help pick out after receiving the diamond.  Be sure to insure the ring as soon as you purchase it, especially if your are planning an extravagant proposal.

ASK HER FATHER.  It is still respectful to ask her father for her hand in marriage.  This respect can be reciprocated.

THE PROPOSAL.  You can make your proposal as simple or as elaborate as you'd like to. You can propose in private or in public; and with today's technology you can propose from far away.  The following ideas are some helpful, and even funny, suggestions to help you create a moment the two of you will always cherish.

  1. Candlelit dinner with glass of champagne.  Classic , but still   romantic.
  2. Propose during fireworks.
  3. Bed of roses or a bubble bath are always special and intimate.
  4. Have the words "Marry me?" put on a cake, a pizza, a big cookie, or any other favorite food of hers?
  5. Put the ring in an ice cube tray add water and freeze.  Then slip it into a clear glass with a clear liquid in it-water, soda, wine, champagne.  A fun little twist to the diamond in the glass.
  6. Propose on location: where you met, the beach, the mountain, the woods, the cabin, the park, by your fireplace-any location that suits you.
  7. Propose doing an activity you both enjoy: walking, karaoke, sleigh ride, hiking, biking, canoing, boating, scuba diving, skydiving, icefishing, picnic in park, hot air balloon ride, dancing, etc.
  8. PDA (Public Display of Affection) signs in the yard, mow or shovel "Marry me?",    sidewalk chalk or paintball the sidewalk or driveway, write in the sand, on a billboard, at a sporting event or concert, banner behind a plane, on a local announcement board, at her workplace, at the theater, on  a local tv or radio station.
  9. Technological Proposal: on the computer through webcam, facebook, myspace, or youtube; text message on cellphone.
  10. Unique proposals: engrave inside a gold band or a charm, write a poem or song, have imprinted on candy bar wrapper or m&m's, put in fortune cookie, put in roses, on a teddy bear, on your pet or a  child, engrave a picture frame, get proposal in a crossword, on a mirror with lipstick, recreate your first date, set up a scavenger hunt.

CELEBRATE.  Take photos, spread the news, go out some place special.

CONGRATULATIONS!

A funny little side quote:

"When Woodrow proposed to me," President Woodrow Wilson's second wife, Edith Bolling Galt, once recalled, "I was so surprised that I nearly fell out of bed."

 OOPS!
